|Description: General Expectations:
Manage and direct all quality assurance effort needed to support the design, development and manufacturing of products. Design and implement methods and procedures for testing and inspecting the quality level of products and production processes. Review supporting manufacturing documentation as needed, to ensure it contains the necessary criteria and provisions to permit effective inspection and testing of materials. Recommend corrective action for procedural, product or process deficiencies. Analyze reports and returned products, and recommend corrective action. Perform tasks to develop, apply and maintain quality requirements for processing components and other materials into finished goods and products. Administer all company policies as needed. Participate and help develop company objectives and goals in general and in the QA area specifically as the position holder’s main purpose.
Review equipment, processes and methods currently in use in manufacturing and evaluate all possible opportunities for improvement in the output rate, consistency and repeatability of production. This will apply to presently used equipment, processes and methods as well as other world class approaches/solutions that may include significant capital investment. AME function requires looking at the current key areas of people and equipment resources in use, and to creatively evaluate improvement options for both the near-term and long-term. These activities might get accelerated with the company receiving a sizeable new order of a present product design or when new products are being introduced and new equipment, techniques and a variety of other solutions might be applicable to get the desired improvement in manufacturing and QA performance. Champion these types of projects and assignments conduct necessary experiment designs and meet with the management team before, during and at the finalization stage of these new solutions. Quantify the outcome of the improvement for example in labor time saved, improvement in quality in percentage or DPPM lever of yield improvement and where capital expense is involved, the ROI (Return on Investment) on the capital expenses that have been made.
Skills and Responsibilities of a Leader of QA and AME:
Main Responsibilities of a Leader of QA:
•Maintain daily close liaison with all teams to ensure that Quality Assurance priorities are adjusted, as required, to support new product introduction and timely delivery of existing products.
•Provide process development support as part of product development process.
•Assist engineers, as required, in the design and/or development of modifications of existing products or special products to meet customer requirements or standard specifications.
•Act as the Management Representative for the ISO 9001 QMS or have a person filling this role reporting to the person in this position.
•Perform quality audit activities including maintaining established audit schedules, and assisting in resolution of audit findings.
•Act as the contact in dealing with Underwriters Laboratory visits. Interface with UL and other regulatory agencies and clients during inspections and audits.
•Spend time with direct labor staff to ensure active engagement from everyone in the QA and production daily activities.
•Provide the interface with design engineering and AME ideas looking ahead with the operation management staff.
•Assist to resolve problems with existing products and procedures as part of the Quality Improvement, Corrective action and Preventative action process.
•Support manufacturing and engineering by providing leadership in inspection, soldering, assembly and process control.
•Assist purchasing to resolve material issues and to approve new suppliers. As needed, interface with suppliers regarding quality issues.
•Maintain Returned Materials Authorization (RMA) database and report on trends. Conduct routine failure analysis and initiate necessary action.

•Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, and the ability to liaise effectively with a multi-disciplinary team.

•Ability to analyze and interpret standards, technical procedures, professional journals and governmental guidance and regulation documents.
•Understanding of software, electrical and mechanical engineering principles.

•QA Management experience across multiple projects, off-shore and in-house.

•Excellent knowledge of Risk Management, Risk Identification and Risked Based Testing.
